Configure tax brackets

Tax Brackets calculate taxes according to amount ranges, with each range using either a percentage or a fixed amount.

Overview

Create range-based tax calculations.

A tax bracket contains multiple ranges and is associated with a tax configured in the Tax Rates module.

  • Associated tax
  • Bracket name
  • Description
  • Active or inactive status
  • One or more ranges
  • Minimum amount
  • Optional maximum amount
  • Percentage or fixed amount
  • Value
  • Range ordering
  • Individual range status
List

Browse configured tax brackets.

The list displays existing brackets and the main information required to manage them.

  • Actions
  • Bracket name
  • Description
  • Number of ranges
  • Number of linked taxes
  • Status
  • Created date
  • View
  • Edit
  • Delete when allowed

Creation

Create a new tax bracket.

Creation begins by selecting a tax, then defining the bracket and its ranges.

  • Select an available tax
  • Required name
  • Optional description
  • Bracket status
  • At least one required range
  • Dynamic addition of multiple ranges
Associated tax

Link the bracket to a tax.

Each bracket is associated with an available tax that is not already linked to another bracket.

  • Required tax
  • Only taxes without a bracket during creation
  • Tax type preview
  • Application preview
  • Position preview
  • Calculation method automatically changed to Bracket
During editing, the tax currently associated with the bracket remains selectable.
Information

Define the bracket.

Each tax bracket contains its own general information.

  • Name: required
  • Name: maximum 255 characters
  • Description: optional
  • Description: maximum 2000 characters
  • Active or inactive status
Ranges

Define calculation rules.

Each range represents an amount interval and determines the calculation rule applied to that interval.

  • Minimum amount
  • Maximum amount
  • Calculation method
  • Value
  • Sort order
  • Status
  • Add ranges
  • Remove ranges
A tax bracket must always contain at least one range.
Minimum

Define the beginning of each range.

The minimum amount determines the value from which a range becomes applicable.

  • Required value
  • Numeric value
  • Minimum allowed: 0
  • Stored with 2 decimal places
Maximum

Define the upper limit.

The maximum amount limits the range and may remain empty for a final range without an upper limit.

  • Optional value
  • Numeric value
  • Minimum allowed: 0
  • Maximum must be equal to or greater than minimum
  • No maximum allowed for the final range
Method

Choose a calculation method for each range.

Every range has its own calculation method.

  • Percentage
  • Fixed amount
  • Different methods may be used across ranges
Percentage

Apply a percentage to the range.

Percentage calculation applies the configured range value to the corresponding tax base.

  • Required value
  • Numeric value
  • Minimum: 0
  • Precision up to 4 decimal places
Fixed amount

Apply a constant amount.

Fixed Amount applies the configured value directly when the corresponding range matches.

  • Required value
  • Numeric value
  • Minimum: 0
  • Precision up to 4 decimal places
Order

Organize ranges.

Each range can define a sort order to control its organization.

  • Integer value
  • Minimum: 0
  • Maximum: 9999
  • Automatic order when omitted
When no order is supplied, SUIGEST360 uses the range position in the form.
Range status

Activate or deactivate a range.

Each range has its own status independently from the overall bracket status.

  • Active range
  • Inactive range
  • Individual status for each interval
  • Bracket itself also has an active or inactive status
Validation

Ensure range integrity.

SUIGEST360 automatically checks bracket structure before saving.

  • At least one range
  • Maximum greater than or equal to minimum
  • No overlapping ranges
  • Open-ended range only in the last logical position
  • Non-negative amounts
Open range

Create a final range without a ceiling.

A range may omit its maximum amount to cover all higher values.

  • Maximum left empty
  • No upper limit
  • Must be the last range
  • No higher range can follow it
Example: from 100,000 with no maximum amount.
Overlapping ranges

Prevent ambiguous intervals.

Ranges cannot cover the same amounts.

  • Ranges compared by minimum amount
  • Next minimum must be greater than previous maximum
  • Overlapping intervals are rejected
  • Validation message when overlap is detected
Bracket details

Review the complete bracket.

The detail page displays general information, indicators and all configured ranges.

  • Name and status
  • Description
  • Total ranges
  • Active ranges
  • Percentage ranges
  • Fixed-amount ranges
  • Linked taxes
  • Created date
  • Updated date
  • Minimum and maximum amounts

  • Change associated tax
  • Change name
  • Change description
  • Change status
  • Add ranges
  • Remove ranges
  • Change amounts
  • Change methods and values

When saved, existing ranges are replaced by the newly submitted configuration.
Synchronization

Automatically synchronize the linked tax.

Associating a bracket automatically updates the selected tax.

  • Tax calculation method set to Bracket
  • tax_bracket_id association
  • Direct tax value removed
  • Legacy rate reset to 0
  • Previous tax association detached when switching taxes
Deletion

Protect brackets currently in use.

A bracket linked to a tax cannot be deleted directly.

  • Confirmation before deletion
  • Linked-tax verification
  • Deletion blocked when bracket is in use
  • Error message when protected
  • Deletion available only when no tax is linked
Detach or reconfigure the tax before deleting a bracket that is currently in use.
