Tax type

Identify the nature of the tax.

The tax type is mainly informational and provides clear classification of configured taxes.

  • GST
  • Sales Tax
  • Stamp Duty
  • Withholding Tax
  • Other
The type identifies the tax category while calculation rules are configured separately.
Application

Define where the tax can be used.

A tax can apply to purchasing, sales or both types of operations.

  • Purchase
  • Sale
  • Purchase and Sale
Position

Determine the calculation stage.

The position determines where the tax is applied in the financial calculation flow.

  • Before total
  • After total
  • Withholding
This property is independent from both tax type and calculation method.
Methods

Choose the calculation method.

SUIGEST360 provides three calculation methods to support different tax rules.

  • Percentage
  • Fixed amount
  • Tax bracket
Percentage

Calculate a proportional tax.

Percentage calculation applies a percentage value to the relevant tax base.

  • Required numeric value
  • Minimum value: 0
  • Precision up to 4 decimal places
  • Displayed with the % symbol
Fixed amount

Apply a constant tax amount.

The Fixed Amount method uses a numeric value independently from percentage calculations.

  • Required numeric value
  • Minimum value: 0
  • Stored with up to 4 decimal places
  • No percentage calculation
Tax bracket

Calculate tax using amount ranges.

Bracket calculation delegates the tax amount to the Tax Brackets module.

  • No direct tax value required
  • Calculation based on ranges
  • Association with a tax bracket
  • Each range may use percentage or fixed calculation
Detailed tax ranges are configured in the Tax Brackets module.
Payment method

Optionally associate a payment method.

A payment method can be stored for specific rules or compatibility with existing tax mechanisms.

  • All payment methods
  • Cash
  • Bank transfer
  • Cheque
  • Card
Payment method is optional and is not a mandatory component of the international tax engine.
Sort order

Organize tax priority.

Sort Order controls tax ordering and priority.

  • Integer value
  • Minimum: 0
  • Maximum: 9999
  • Default: 0
  • Taxes ordered using this value
Status

Activate or deactivate a tax.

A tax can remain configured while being disabled.

  • Active
  • Inactive
  • Configuration preserved
  • Status controlled from the form

The detail page provides a visual summary of the tax and its main configuration.

  • Name
  • Type
  • Status
  • Application

  • Change name
  • Change type
  • Change application
  • Change position
  • Change method
  • Change value
  • Change payment method
  • Change order
  • Activate or deactivate
Compatibility

Maintain compatibility with existing modules.

SUIGEST360 automatically maintains internal legacy values so existing modules can continue to operate with the current tax engine.

  • Percentage: value synchronized to legacy rate
  • Fixed amount: legacy rate reset to 0
  • Bracket: legacy rate reset to 0
  • Direct value removed for bracket-based taxes
Deletion

Protect taxes linked to brackets.

A tax cannot be directly deleted when it already has an associated tax bracket.

  • Confirmation before deletion
  • Protection for bracket-linked taxes
  • Error message when deletion is prohibited
  • Deletion available when no bracket is associated
When a tax must remain available for historical traceability, deactivate it instead of deleting it.
